National Indigenous Languages Day

March 31 marks National Indigenous Languages Day in Canada. The United Nations has declared the decade from 2022 to 2032 as the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, promoting the revitalization and use of Indigenous languages.

Learning Indigenous languages is a key step toward reconciliation, connection and ensuring the survival of language for future generations.

In DSB1, we are proud to offer Cree and Anishinaabemowin courses and continue to work towards reconciliation through the teaching and revitalization of these languages.
